The rule comes from the gap. Mercury is retrograde at 6.87° Scorpio, 10.02° behind the Sun and Moon together at 16.89° Scorpio. In this frame, Mercury is travelling back over ground the Sun has already crossed. It is a reworking phase.

The new moon plants the seed. Retrograde Mercury insists you revise the wording, the price, or the terms before anyone outside the room hears it. Think of a lease you have read three times, a savings figure you keep adjusting, or a message still in drafts because the second version is truer than the first. The exact Sun–Moon [[Sun Conjunct Moon|conjunction]] is the seed point; Mercury's backward position is the editor standing over it.

That is why a closed start beats a launch. You are not delaying out of fear. You are building the thing in the dark until it holds its shape.

One aspect is tight enough to feel: retrograde Venus at 23.32° Libra sits 0.64° from Mars at 22.68° Leo. That is a sextile — an opportunity, not a compulsion. The ease is real, but it waits for a deliberate step.

Take the honest message, the offer you have quietly reworked, or the favour you have been swallowing. The chart supports one of those now. Do it privately.

Nearby, Mars conjunct Jupiter at a 2.57° orb is looser but louder. It pushes for a grander promise than the sky can back. Watch for the moment you want to overclaim — a bigger number, a bolder deadline, a wider audience than you actually need.

The revision window closes when Mercury turns direct on November 13: from then, what you have been quietly editing can be said once, plainly, and hold. Venus turns direct on November 14, and the terms you set in private start to read as fair to the other person too. Until both are moving forward again, keep the work in the room and use the [[transit chart calculator|/calculators/transit-chart]] to see which part of your own chart the conjunction lands on.

Four placements do the real work here, and only one of them is the new moon itself.

Sun and Moon together at 16.89° Scorpio are the seed. Mercury retrograde at 6.87° Scorpio is the editor standing between you and the announcement, 10.02° behind and moving backward. Read the sign guide to Moon in Scorpio if you want the emotional register of this degree — it is private, probing, and slow to trust a first draft.

Venus retrograde at 23.32° Libra sits 0.64° from Mars at 22.68° Leo. That sextile — a 60° aspect that opens a door and leaves the walking to you — is the tightest contact in the chart, and it is the one you will actually feel. Two desires pull toward each other without forcing anything: what you want and how you go after it line up for once.

Mars also sits 2.57° from Jupiter at 25.25° Leo. Looser, louder, and more likely to inflate your promise. Watch the moment you want to widen the audience to prove the decision is real. It is not needed.

Saturn retrograde at 8.81° Aries is the outlier. Its nearest major aspect to the Sun–Moon is a trine — a 120° aspect of ease between signs of the same element — but at a 21.92° orb it is far too wide to count as a tight influence. Treat Saturn as background discipline, not the headline pressure of this moon.

That leaves a clean picture: one revision window, one genuine opportunity, one overreach risk, and one broad structural hum. You need to use the gap.

Money first. Pick the one figure you have not said out loud — the real cost of the subscription you keep, the deposit, the split of a shared bill. Write it down privately before the 9th. Retrograde Mercury at 6.87° Scorpio supports recalculating; it does not support quoting a final number to someone with power over the outcome.

Keep the three lanes separate. Private financial work — your own numbers, your own ledger — is fully allowed now. Selective disclosure to one trusted person is allowed, and that is what the [[Moon in Scorpio|/entities/moon-in-scorpio]] degree favors: one person, one room, one honest figure. A public announcement is the lane that waits past November 13, when Mercury turns direct.

Messages second. The 10° gap means the second draft beats the first. Send the version you would stand behind if it were read back to you a month from now, and keep the wider audience out of it until Mercury turns direct on November 13.

Boundaries third. Use the tight Venus–Mars sextile: one honest sentence, delivered privately, renegotiating the favour you have been swallowing. Refusing to explain is allowed here — Scorpio does not owe an audience its reasoning.

Three questions decide whether this goes public before the 9th or stays in the room.

The first is the one from the start of this article: if 'not yet' is right today, when does the window open? Mercury turns direct on November 13 and Venus on November 14. Commit privately now; review the terms after the 13th, when the same decision reads more clearly without rewriting what you already began.

The second: which single aspect is tight enough to feel? Venus sextile Mars at a 0.64° orb. Sextiles ask for a step. Take it privately this week, not on a stage.

The third is blunter. If nobody outside this room ever heard about it, would the commitment still hold? If yes, the announcement is optional. If no, you may be building a performance rather than a plan.

Sit with those three until they have plain answers. Then check the timing against your own chart: enter your birth details and the November 9 event date in the transit chart calculator, and read which of your natal planets sits near 6–17° of Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus or Leo. Those degrees mark where the conjunction and the retrograde Mercury actually land for you.

The collective date lives on the astrology calendar — November 9, 2026 at 07:02 UTC, the same moment for everyone. Your contact with it does not.

Decide which of the two gets your name on it: the private start, or the public version. This week, the chart backs the first.
