A Libra new moon defaults to harmony: the Sun and Moon meet in the sign ruled by Venus, and the reflex is to keep the tone pleasant. Start with the lunation itself — the exact Sun-Moon conjunction is what makes this a reset moment rather than an ordinary Libra day. Two other calculated contacts break the peacekeeping reflex open. Venus at 7.42° Scorpio sits 4.89° from Mercury at 12.31° Scorpio, and Venus squares Mars at 7.22° Leo with just a 0.20° orb. That square is the tightest aspect in the whole chart — a 90.20° separation from an exact 90° square.

Be precise about Venus's role. Venus is not conjunct the new moon: the Sun and Moon sit 20.06° from Venus at the event, too wide for a conjunction. Venus drives this lunation through the Mercury conjunction and the Mars square, not through proximity to the Sun and Moon. Read it as a review engine running this week, not the flashpoint.

Here is what that pairing actually does. Venus retrograde is review mode: it drags old agreements, unpaid favors and half-settled terms back onto the table. Mercury 4.89° away supplies the words. Mars in Leo supplies the want — the loud, unembarrassed preference you usually translate into a compromise before anyone hears it. Read the contact as a forced choice: name the want out loud, or watch the old arrangement survive with nicer phrasing.

Mars at 7.22° Leo trines Saturn at 10.82° Aries with a 3.60° orb, so the friction has a spine. Firm wording lands better than a soft ask. If you have been waiting for a graceful moment to restate your terms, the five-day window is it — and the terms themselves are the work, not the delivery.

Before you act on any of this, find out where your own Venus sits. The Venus sign calculator shows your natal Venus by sign, which tells you whether review-mode negotiations tend to land as money questions, attachment questions or taste questions for you.

Venus retrograde is not the trigger of this new moon — it is the mechanism. The Sun and Moon sit 20.06° from Venus, too wide to count as a conjunction with the lunation. The brief's implied tight Venus hit does not hold. Venus earns its place through the 4.89° Mercury conjunction and that 0.20° Mars square instead, which makes it a review engine running in the background of the week, not the flashpoint.

Saturn is the opposite problem, and it is the single clearest fact in this chart. At 10.82° Aries and retrograde, Saturn sits 6.54° from an exact opposition to the lunation — and it is the only body making a hard 180° aspect to the Sun and Moon. That singularity matters more than the width. Saturn in Aries marks an existing obligation, an outside party, or a rule you did not write. Your revised terms have to survive contact with it on October 10, not just sound good on October 5.

So the chart splits into two working parts. Venus retrograde and Mercury handle the renegotiation: which old agreement, which exact wording, which number. Saturn in Aries handles the test: whether your new boundary holds when someone with standing pushes back. Scorpio season arrives on October 23 to show what that test costs when the words stay polite.

If you have been treating Venus retrograde as the villain of the week, drop that and treat it as your editor — it is showing you the loophole in the old deal. And if you were planning to ignore Saturn because the orb looks wide, do not. Before Friday, write the sentence that survives a firm no.

Where you personally feel it depends on your own chart rather than your Sun sign.

Five prompts to run between October 5 and October 9. Write the answers, because a written answer is what survives Friday's conversation.

One: what agreement am I still honoring out of habit rather than choice? Name the actual arrangement — the standing Sunday call, the split that never got re-split, the favor that became a job. Venus retrograde at 7.42° Scorpio is running an audit, and it opens by surfacing what you stopped questioning.

Two: what do I want, and what is my exact ask — a number, a date, a changed behavior? Say the want first, plainly, then negotiate; reversed order is how over-accommodation works. Vague requests are how the old arrangement survives with nicer phrasing. "Less often" is not an ask. "Twice a month, and I choose the dates" is.

Three: who or what plays Saturn here? Saturn retrograde at 10.82° Aries is the outside party, the standing obligation, the rule you did not write. Predict the pushback now and write the sentence that holds when it arrives.

Four: what did I agree to the last time this happened, and would I sign it again today? Four of the five days are for this question. It is where the change actually happens.

Five: if nothing changes by October 11, what did I avoid saying? Answer honestly. Then read your draft out loud once before Friday morning, and cut any line that apologizes for the ask itself.

If you want to know which of these prompts lands hardest for you, run your birth details through the transit chart calculator and see where the October 10 degrees touch your own placements.

The lunation ends its exact window on October 12, but the review does not. Venus stays retrograde until November 14, so the terms you set on October 10 face their first test within days. Mercury turns retrograde on October 24 at 20.98° Scorpio, backing over the same ground your newly drafted agreement covers. Scorpio season begins October 23, when the Sun crosses 0° Scorpio and lands 1.21° from retrograde Venus. If the boundary you wrote was real, it holds through all of it. If it was wording, the same conversation returns with harder edges.

The clearest checkpoint is the Taurus full moon on October 26 at 04:11 UTC, when the Moon at 2.76° Taurus opposes the Sun at 2.76° Scorpio. That is the release point of this lunar month — what you agreed to on the 10th either works or gets reworked. Track one thing: did the revised terms survive contact with the person or obligation that pushed back? Keep the answer in writing, next to your October 5 draft. That record is the difference between a fresh start and a repeat with softer phrasing.

Prepare in daylight, not in dread. The chart hands you a drafting window, five days wide, with a specific set of negotiations in it. Write the one page, say the sentence, and let October 10 be the date you stopped translating.

A brief note on method: positions and orbs here are calculated geocentric sky data for the event moment. Houses and angles need your birth time and place, so a birth date alone cannot place this lunation in your chart's rooms. Treat the meaning as interpretation, and the timing as yours to check.
