Libra is the sign of the agreement — the compromise, the handshake where both sides give a little. A new moon here usually reads as a soft reset in relationships. This chart makes that reset conditional: the easy yes isn't on the table, only the honest one.

The standoff comes from Venus and Mars. Venus, retrograde at 7° Scorpio, squares Mars at 7° Leo with barely 0.2° of orb — the tightest square in the chart. Venus in Scorpio won't pretend the old wound isn't there; Mars in Leo refuses to be ignored. You feel both at once: the urge to smooth things over and the urge to hold your ground. Neither wins on its own.

Saturn, nearly opposite the Sun-Moon from Aries, adds the boundary test. The agreement this chart supports is the one you can state as a hard term — this is the line — without softening it to win approval. The one you merely want is the deal you'd sign without reading the fine print.

Social leverage ties them together. In any negotiation, power sits with the person who can name a boundary and stay silent while the other side reacts. On October 10, that's you — if you can tolerate the quiet.

The Sun-Moon conjunction sets the date, but the surrounding planets set the terms. Mercury in Scorpio, Venus retrograde in the same sign, and Mars in Leo turn a simple reset into a negotiation with stakes.

Mercury at 12° Scorpio sits close to Venus at 7° Scorpio — a conjunction that blends thought and desire. Your words don't just describe the agreement; they reveal what you actually want. That's why the conversation can't stay polite. Mercury in Scorpio cuts to the real ask, and Venus retrograde makes sure you don't hide your own needs behind a pleasant tone.

Venus retrograde is the review. Venus stationed retrograde in Scorpio on October 3, opening a six-week review window that runs until November 13 — and at the new moon, she's still moving backward. That means the terms you're renegotiating aren't new; they're the ones you've already tried to smooth over. The retrograde asks you to see the pattern — the yes you gave to avoid tension, the boundary you softened — and to write a different version this time.

Mars in Leo is the heat. At 7° Leo, it squares that Venus at 7° Scorpio with only 0.2° of orb, so the push to be seen clashes directly with the pull to merge. Mars wants recognition; Venus wants compromise. That clash is the standoff. The chart doesn't resolve it; it makes you choose, consciously, which one you're actually serving.

So the reading changes: this isn't a new moon for fresh starts in the usual sense. It's for renegotiating the terms you already have — with a sharper tongue, a deeper need, and the courage to be seen while you state the boundary.

Who needs the reset isn't a sign — it's the place where your yes costs more than your peace. The colleague whose requests you keep absorbing. The friend whose moods you manage. The contract you keep postponing because renegotiating feels like an argument.

That's the agreement worth renegotiating — not a fresh start on a blank page, but the terms you've already accepted. Start with three questions: Where do you say maybe when you mean no? Where do you soften a line to avoid the quiet? Who gets your energy without giving terms back? Write one sentence for each — the boundary, the reason, and the date you'll restate it.

The new moon doesn't stay still. Over the next two weeks the Moon waxes toward a full moon on the Aries-Libra axis, and that's the pressure test for the terms you state on October 10. The agreement that survives is the one you can still hold after the first pass fails — not the version that looks easiest on day one.

The review runs long. Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio on October 24, pulling the conversation inward — re-reading old messages, re-checking the boundary you set. Treat that as a revision pass, not a sign you got it wrong. Knowing what to check before you send, sign, or commit is what turns those weeks from frustrating into useful, so the Mercury retrograde guide is worth reading before you draft anything. Venus has been moving backward through the same review since October 3, so the terms you name now are for confirmation, not final signature.

The practical move: state the boundary now, let the full moon pressure-test it, and finalize after Venus and Mercury both turn direct in mid-November. The tone shifts from 'can we make this work?' to 'here's what I require.' That's the agreement that survives a renegotiation.
