A transit puts a clock on the pattern. Ceres takes about four and a half years to circle the zodiac, so it passes any given degree roughly once every four to five years. When it reaches the degree opposite your Descendant, you get a defined window — typically two to three weeks of exact contact, with the theme building for about a month on either side. That is a typical duration, not a guarantee.
That window feels like a stress test on care. Someone in your life gets needier, or you do. The person who always handles things starts getting calls they did not expect. The one who never asks for help suddenly has to ask, and the asking feels like a confession.
Ceres does not station often, so the pressure does not hang around for years. It comes, it makes the imbalance obvious, it moves on. This answers the loop from earlier: the transit is testing whether care flows both ways, not announcing the end of anything. If the flow is one-directional, you will know within a few weeks.
The usual response is overfunction. You take on more, faster, before anyone asks. You become the fixer again. Then the resentment lands, and it lands on the person closest to you rather than on the situation that produced it. The transit does not want more service. It wants an honest exchange.
A better response is one sentence, delivered early: "I can help with this, and here is what I need back." Say it before the resentment builds. Say it once. If nothing returns, stop supplying. Ceres rewards reciprocity — it is the harvest planet, not the sacrifice planet. Care flows both ways, or it is not care; it is supply.
To check when this transit hits your own chart, open the transit chart calculator and enter four things: your birth date, birth time and birth location, plus the target date you want to examine. Then look for Ceres near the degree opposite your Descendant. If you do not know your birth time, the Descendant cannot be placed accurately, so the timing stays approximate.
Watch for the test in the smallest moment: someone offers help, and you hear yourself starting to say no. That reflex is what the transit is asking you to notice. The whole point of this window is to find out whether you can be fed, not just feed.
